The Leogate Estate Lion, being the ancient symbol of the Lion Rampant, has an extensive pride, symbolically represented by its three vineyards and a wide array of wine grape varietals as well as blends.

2023 Brokenback Semillon

The Brokenback Vineyard, Pokolbin, was planted in the 1970's by a visionary group led by the late, legendary, Len Evans, AO, OBE. Over the ensuing years the vines have produced premium wines under a variety of labels. In 2008 the vineyard then in two parts, was purchased privately and amalgamated.

Our Brokenback Semillon is harvested early to capture the crisp citrus flavours with delicate, refreshing acidity. The result is a light, elegant wine style displaying a wonderfully lifted lemon citrus bouquet with lingering lime fruit flavours adding great length to the wine.

Cellaring: Vibrant and lively whilst young or will gain rewarding complexity with medium term cellaring 2 – 10 years.

2024 Brokenback Verdelho

Our Brokenback Verdelho displays lifted tropical fruit aromas and flavours balanced by refreshing citrus acidity. This generous wine is full flavoured with a touch of spice creating a long and complex palate.

2019 Gatecrasher La Perouse Cabernet Merlot

The Leogate estate tradition of bringing grapes into the winery from districts external to the Hunter Valley has continued in 2018 for the winemaking of "The Gatecrasher" series. This wine is made from grapes grown on our own Certified Organic Vineyard located int he Central Ranges of New South Wales.

Appearance: Deep red in colour with a bright red hue.

Bouquet: A fragrant bouquet of black and red currants with spice and cedary notes.

Palate: The La Perouse is a French style red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon approx. 60% and Merlot approx. 40%. These two grape varieties are grown on our own Certified Organic Vineyard located in the Central Ranges of NSW.

The wine displays a delightfully rounded palate offering a generous mix of red and blue fruits balanced by fine, silky tannins. With 12 months of gentle French oak maturation the palate is well structure, complexity and long.

Cellaring: Excellent drinking now or will further develop with careful cellaring up to 10 years.
